Naples: The magnificent chaos of Italy

Diving headlong into the magnificent Neapolitan chaos is a fascinating experience to share with your friends. Before getting to know this bustling city, drop off your bags at Casa d'Anna. You will feel like you are staying with old friends in this bed & breakfast on the upper floor of a stunning Baroque palace. Follow your hosts' tips on what to see and do, and head into the labyrinth of tiny streets and soak in the unique atmosphere. The old town, where aristocratic facades alongside laundry hung out the windows, hides its treasures in the courtyards of old buildings.

With their legendary exuberance, Neapolitans are what give the city its charm. For lunch, try La Notizia, a temple for light pizza with a crunchy crust, just like Neapolitan pizza should be. To get a better feel for this young, animated city, take the cable car up to the top of the Vomero hill. The view over the bay is breathtaking. At the end of the day, go up to the rooftop of the Grand Hotel Vesuvio. There, as you admire the gorgeous views over the bay of Naples, you can enjoy a glass of chianti and say a toast to friendship.

Oslo: A happy and arty capital city

With its fjord and sprinkling of islands, the capital of the happiest people in the world is ideal for a stimulating break with friends. You will need shorts and sunglasses as you leave the Saga hotel, your base camp just steps away from the port. In front of the Astrup Fearnley contemporary art museum, you will find people sunbathing while others slip through the water on a stand up paddle. Take the ferry to Langøyene island. After a short ride, do like the Norwegians and take a stroll around this nature park!

When it is time to head back to town, go to the trendy neighbourhood of Tjuvholmen whose new buildings are all designed by some of the biggest names in architecture, like the Italian Renzo Piano. Nearby you can try a few Nordic appetizers at Sentralen, a creative restaurant tucked into a former bank. A little further way, in the Grünerløkka area, wander around among the hipsters, skaters and vintage shops. Next, explore Vulkan, the new ecological neighbourhood built on the formerly industrial bank of the Akerselva river. With beehives, geothermal wells and a large market with fresh, local products, Oslo certainly deserved its new title of European Green Capital for 2019!

Istanbul: Between two worlds

When arriving at this huge global metropolis between two continents, you are sure to fall under the spell of its old neighbourhoods' Middle Eastern charm. On foot, climb the hilly streets to Sultanahmet, where you will find the Blue Mosque, the Saint Sophia Basilica and the Topkapi Palace, all iconic monuments in a city with exceptional cultural heritage.

Turkey's capital city never stops, constantly reinventing itself in its modern neighbourhoods. Near the Galata Bridge, visit the SALT Foundation, an alternative art centre in the former headquarters of the Imperial Ottoman Bank. You can almost feel as the new Istanbul is developed in this lab. Are your friends thirsty for culture? Take a detour by metro to Eyüp, near the Golden Horn to visit Santralistanbul, the power station turned into a contemporary art centre. You cannot help but fall in love with it!

Enjoy the hip and cosy Sub Karaköy hotel for a bit before visiting the lively Beyoğlu area on the European bank. For dinner, Yeni Lokanta is a great choice where you can try traditional dishes revamped with a creative style by chef Civan Er. Not ready to turn in yet?
