Love of cinema at the Marrakech International Film Festival

Since its creation in 2001 by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Marrakech International Film Festival has become the largest cinematographic gathering of all Maghreb.

Boldly resolved to build bridges between countries and mix up cultures, nationalities and languages, the Marrakech International Film Festival stands out for both its prestigious notoriety and the strong symbols it conveys, as it promotes cinematographic open-mindedness and abhors censorship. The festival makes a point of revealing Moroccan talents, but also welcomes and pays tribute to famous figures of the movie scene, such as Leïla Alaoui. The Convention Centre and the Jemaa el-Fna square both welcome crowds gathering for screenings and award ceremonies, as the jury's favourites are shared with the audience for a celebration of the artistic mixture of genres.
